12 o'clock walk
Did you know that…
- 48.6% of our regional population, compared to 47.1% of Ontario’s population are physically inactive
- 52.9% of our regional population, compared to 48.5% of Ontario’s population are obese or overweight
- The rate of Type-2 Diabetes, largely due to excess body fat and physical inactivity, is higher in Windsor-Essex County than the provincial and national averages
- Childhood obesity is a major risk factor for diabetes; one in three children born since 2000 will likely develop diabetes
Southwestern Ontario in motion is working to change these stats. You are invited to join Tecumseh Parks and Recreation in a 12 o’clock walk on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Lacasse Park to show your support for Healthier, Active Communities in Windsor-Essex County. Led by the Southwestern Ontario in motion, every community across Windsor and Essex County will be getting outside for 30 minutes at 12 o’clock to walk as a way to celebrate National in motion week.
