Lakewood Park South – Future Uses Public Consultation
The development and future use of Lakewood Park South is of considerable interest to the Community because of its size and stature. On January 24, 2012 Town Council resolved that input from residents and key stakeholders will be sought in the development of the Plan and in shaping the future function and design of the park.
The first step will be a public kick-off event geared to reaching a broad community base in order to hear all voices and creating renewed enthusiasm for the park. At this initial public meeting, the Town would listen to residents’ ideas for future uses and components they would like to see included as part of the park.
The consulting firm, Dialog will assess the information gathered at the public meeting and prepare conceptual ideas. Residents would then be able to provide feedback on these ideas through a variety of means, such as interactive panels, a visioning workshop, and a design charrette. Since Dialog is also involved in the current Hamlet Secondary Plan and Tecumseh Road CIP, linking these initiatives would add another component to the Town’s desire to establish healthy and complete communities, and to “keep the village green”.
Upon completion of this phase of the Lakewood Park South Master Plan, the conceptual ideas gathered will assist in providing Council and administration with direction for the park and will assist in guiding future decisions towards engaging the next phase of the Park Master Plan Development.
