Snow Removal

Town of Tecumseh Snow Plow

Streets

Please note that it is unlawful under the Highway Traffic Act to deposit snow or other debris onto streets.

Snow from parking lots and driveways is to be kept on your property. Public Works Staff encounter difficulties in snow removal where vehicles are left on the roadway during and after a snow event. Kindly refrain from parking on Town streets during snow-clearing operations. In order to facilitate winter control operations, the Traffic By-law No 2001-36, as amended, regulates parking during heavy snow falls.

A heavy snowfall may be declared an emergency. During a snow emergency declaration, vehicles parked on roadways may be towed at the owner’s expense. Please listen to local media stations for declarations of snow emergencies.

The Town’s Traffic By-law prohibits placing, leaving and erecting sports equipment on a highway. Sports equipment on highways also pose difficulty for snow clearing operations. The Public Works Staff will remove equipment left on the Town’s roadways.

Sidewalks

By-law No. 2003-100 requires all residents to clear away and remove snow and ice from all sidewalks adjoining their property. When a property owner fails to do so, the Town may remove the snow and ice and charge the cost of removal to the owner.

Your co-operation is appreciated.
