WATER METER UPGRADE – NOTICE OF ERT INSTALLATION

The Town is in the process of installing a device on all water meters throughout the Town. This device (called an ERT – Encoder Receiver Transmitter) will enable Town Water staff to read your water meter electronically using a hand-held instrument as staff drive by your residence.

There will be no extra cost to the customer for this service. Town staff will be contacting each resident to schedule an appointment for the ERT installation.
The installation will take approximately 20 minutes. During the ERT installation we request the resident or a representative of the resident:

  • be home when Water staff install the ERT
  • refrain from using the water (i.e. washing machine; dishwasher) until the ERT is installed
  • ensure the area around your water meter is clear of any obstruction so that Water staff can easily access the meter to install the ERT
