Mayor's Office

A Message from the Mayor

The Town of Tecumseh is well situated in Essex County and consists of all aspects a community could ask for; residential, agriculture, commercial and industrial properties.  Our community is second to none.  Our schools are performing at their highest levels, our taxes continue to remain lower than most and our community spirit is something to marvel at.  One could say, we have big city amenities with a small town feel.

I cannot tell you how honoured I am to have been acclaimed Mayor for this wonderful Town this past election.  It is truly a humbling feeling.  We have worked hard the last four years and this acclamation signifies the community's confidence and recognition of leadership.  For this I am truly thankful to all the residents of the Town of Tecumseh.

As newly elected officials, Tecumseh Council accepts the priviledge to serve you.  You have our assurance that we will continue to build on the solid foundation that has been laid by the previous council.  You have our commitment to provide quality service, to tax fairly, to spend prudently and to manage wisely.  You also have our commitment to work together in the best interest of our community.  To, at all times, put our personal interests aside and work together in the spirit of cooperation, honestly and with integrity, because the residents of Tecumseh deserve nothing less.  Our goal is to carry on the improvements to town services, attract new businesses, encourage visitors and provide an exceptional quality of life to all who live, work, and play in our wonderful community.

The economic chaos of the last few years has had a profound impact on Canada, Ontario and Southwestern Ontario; the full extent of which we are still trying to understand.  While we have made great progress in the past few years, we still have work to do.  Here are some priorities I see for the next four years:

  • Manning Road Reconstruction from St. Gregory to the waterfront.
  • Riverfront Park Developments
  • Lakewood Park Developments
  • New Pumping Station at Manning Road
  • Continued improvements to municipal services in the Oldcastle Industrial Park.
  • Protect our farm land

We need to stay focused and aggressive with our infrastructure improvements throughout the Town while staying cognizant of the state of our fragile economy.  I assure you that we will accomplish all we can within our means and will spend your tax dollars wisely.

It is now time to look to the future with a renewed sense of optimism.  Our future is what we, as a community make it; activities for our youth, opportunities for our adults, and support for our seniors.  It is through joint efforts that we will succeed in providing the necessary amenities we require to continue to move our Town forward.

I believe the Japanese poet Ryunosuke Satoro said it best - "Individually we are one drop.  Together we are an ocean."

Tecumseh: Proud of our Past – Confident in our Future
