Please take notice that in accordance with The Weed Control Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.W.5, Section 3 and Town of Tecumseh By-law 2004-28 Section 4.4, every person in possession of land shall destroy all noxious weeds on the land. Where a property owner fails to comply, Section 16 of The Weed Control Act and Section 3.4 of By-law 2004-28, provide the authority for the municipality to cause the destruction of the noxious weeds or weed seeds and to recover the cost of such destruction from the property owner. Upon failure to pay the cost of the destruction of weeds, the Town may add the cost to the tax roll of the effected property.
In accordance with Section 16(2) of The Weed Control Act and Section 3.4 of By-law 2004-28, the Town will commence the removal and destruction of weeds and weed seeds on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, and continue such removal through Friday, October 25, 2013, on those properties failing to remove all noxious weeds.
The cost of destruction of weeds to be invoiced to a property owner failing to remove noxious weeds is $204.43 per hour. A minimum of one hour will be charged. Failure to pay any cost invoiced within 30 days, will result in such costs being added to the tax roll of the affected property.
