Line Of Duty Deaths (LODDS)
On December 14, 2009 the Tecumseh Fire Rescue Service lost one of its own, Don Massender. Don was more than just a firefighting member of the department and a full-time employee of the Town of Tecumseh, Don was a man gifted with a will to help others and in finding joy and sharing that sense of joy with everyone fortunate enough to come in contact with him.
Donny never missed an opportunity to laugh, to find the humour in an issue or to help someone in need. During his thirty-one years of service to the department he touched so many people with this obvious love of life, his passion for others and the love of his family. Donny is, and will be remembered every day.
Father Mike Graham
Father Mike Graham was Tecumseh Fire’s padre for 25 years. He was well respected by all the firefighters and always provided compassionate care to the department on the loss of several of our members. He was a very wise man and served us well.
Gene Morand was a member of the department for more than 40 years. He was the first volunteer recognized under the Province of Ontario's presumptive legislation acknowledging that volunteer firefighters face the same health risks as full-time firefighters. He was the Deputy Chief of the Tecumseh Fire Rescue Service at the time of his passing. Gene passed on December 17, 1995.
