Register for Life

Registering at-risk family members with the Tecumseh Fire Rescue Service’s Emergency Medical Registry will provide first responding personnel with early dispatch radio notification that there is an individual within the residence that has either a cognitive, physical impairment or medical illness or disease that may make their escape in the event of fire more difficult. Registry ensures tht your family member’s name, sex, age, form of impairment and room of residence in the dwelling is immediately provided to responding emergency services personnel. Upon arrival personnel will ensure that a targeted search of the designated area or room of the dwelling is made to locate and extricate an at-risk registered individual. While primary and secondary searches are made of all dwellings in the event of fire, early notification of where to begin a search will save time and increase occupant safety. In addition, knowledge by first responders of particular health issues assists in determining patient care and treatment in the event of a medical emergency.

Remember that registration is totally confidential. Whether your loved one suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and is 80 years of age or is autistic and 4 years of age, our only goal is to provide the highest level of fire protection and emergency care possible.

Please take the time to pick up the phone and register if you have a family member with special needs. The TFRS is committed to keeping your family members as safe as possible.
