What is a Parks Master Plan?
A Parks Master Plan is a review of existing parks facilities including:
- - Neighbourhood Parks
- - Community Parks
- - Natural Areas / Woodlots
- - Trails & Linkages
- - Sports Fields
In this case, we are reviewing the existing parks master plan for the town and providing an update.
Why do we need it?
A Parks Master Plan provides an opportunity to periodically assess the changing recreation needs of the community and determine if those needs are being properly met. The result of the planning process is a series of updated recommendations that will be considered by Town Council, and if adopted will be the road map for the next decade or more.
What it is and What it isn't!
It isn't an actual site plan for each park. Things won't necessarily be built exactly where and as shown. It is a master plan or a set of design guidelines to be considered as part of future design work. It includes the types and ways that people will experience their parks and what's required to support that.
Why this meeting?
The Parks & Recreation Master Plan was approved by Council in 2011 and has helped guide investment in the Town's parks, recreation, trails, and sports system. The Plan ensures parks, recreation, trails and sports services keep pace with the Town's population growth, emerging interests, and provide Tecumseh residents with choices to b active for life. It's time for a new look at the parks system and most importantly, it's time for you to have your say!
