In accordance with the Province of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen, the Tecumseh Parks and Recreation Department will begin offering some in-person, outdoor recreational programs for youth, adults and seniors beginning Saturday, June 26. No summer day camps are offered in 2021 however some weekly outdoor youth activities will be offered under provincial Roadmap guidelines.

“We are pleased to offer modified programming again this summer,” said Gary McNamara, Mayor of Tecumseh. “Our goal is to keep residents active while adhering to public health guidelines and working within the provincial Roadmap. We thank the community for their patience and hope our residents take advantage of activities our team has put together.”

The offerings include a variety of fitness, aquatic and artistic programs for youth, adults and seniors and will include: Power Off and Play, Urban Poling and Chair Fitness, Paint in the Park and Learn to Swim. In lieu of the summer day camp, some weekly outdoor youth activities including Jr. Firefighters, Taekwon Do and Learn to Bike will be incorporated. Participant numbers will be reflective of the Provincial Roadmap guidelines, which is currently a maximum gathering of ten (10). As the region moves through the next steps of the reopening, participant numbers will increase accordingly.

All program offerings will be posted on the dedicated recreation site. Advance registration is required and may be done through the site or by calling the Tecumseh Parks and Recreation office at (519) 735-4756. The recreation office at the Arena remains closed and no walk-in registrations are permitted. Please log in to update and/or create an account in advance of registration.
