Tecumseh’s waiving of late payment charges for property taxes and water/wastewater accounts will end on September 30, 2020 with interest and fees applied to amounts past due as of October 1, 2020. The waiver of these fees was implemented as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Tecumseh Transit fees were reinstated September 8, 2020.

As of October 1, 2020:

  • Late payment penalty and interest charges for both property tax and water/wastewater amounts will be calculated on all outstanding amounts owing.
  • Non-sufficient funds fees will be applied to accounts where payment by cheque is returned.
  • Dog tag and dog kennel fees will increase to the full fees of $35 and $125 respectively.

Property tax and water/wastewater payments may be made at any banking institution or via online banking. For those wishing to pay these fees, as well as the dog tag and dog kennel fees in person at Town Hall, daily drop in hours are 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. You must wear a mask and undergo screening when you enter the building. Payments may also be made by cheque via the secured drop box outside the Town Hall entrance.

The moratorium on temporary signs introduced on July 14, 2020 continues. The moratorium waives: the $50.00 permit application fee; the display period times; and, the three sign maximum at any given time for a multiple-tenant property. This moratorium is in effect until the state of emergency ends. Business owners must still submit an application which can be downloaded at: www.tecumseh.ca/portablesigns.
