The Town of Tecumseh is excited to announce the first annual Tecumseh Corn Festival Pickleball Tournament hosted in partnership with the Tecumseh Pickleball Association on Saturday, August 10, 2019 and Sunday, August 11, 2019.

The Tournament will be held at the Tecumseh Recreation Complex & Arena, located at 12021 McNorton Street, Tecumseh, ON and will include Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Doubles for participants of all skill levels and ages. A pickleball battle between the Tecumseh BIA and Tecumseh Town Council will take place on Sunday afternoon. The community is invited to come and witness the fun on Saturday and Sunday.

“Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in our community and it is thanks to the efforts of the Tecumseh Pickleball Association which is a driving force in promoting the sport,” says Mayor Gary McNamara. “I’m excited to play on Sunday and encourage everyone to get involved and try their hand at this fun sport.”

The Tecumseh Pickleball Association will be at the Tecumseh Corn Festival on Sunday, August 25, 2019 to provide demonstrations to festival visitors.

“We are excited to be a part of the Tecumseh Corn Festival and to introduce the game of pickleball to festival visitors,” said Malinda Hebert, Tecumseh Pickleball Association Founding Member. “The Tecumseh Corn Festival Pickleball Tournament is a great way to kick off the excitement of the Tecumseh Corn Festival. The tournament players will receive some door prizes and awards that will include tickets for them to attend the Tecumseh Corn Festival the weekend of August 23 to 25.”

Festival and Events Ontario named the Tecumseh Corn Festival one of the Top 100 Festivals in Ontario for the 15th consecutive year. This year’s event is three days of spectacular family entertainment including: a vendor village filled with a variety of Arts & Crafts; food booths; Carter Shows Midway; and, the renowned Corn Booth featuring “Tonnes & Tonnes” of Hot Buttered Corn on the Cob from Tecumseh’s own Bonduelle and prepared by the volunteers of the Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach.
