The Town of Tecumseh recently completed its biennial Citizen Satisfaction Survey and continues to enjoy high satisfaction rates with local residents. The Town conducted similar surveys in 2014, 2016 and 2017 to gauge citizen satisfaction with Town provided services and quality of life. The survey also provided residents with an opportunity to share their thoughts on various elements of Town services like flood response, infrastructure improvements and local activities.

The 2019 survey, conducted by Probe Research Inc., reveals that 97% of Tecumseh residents are either very satisfied (61%) or somewhat satisfied (36%) with the services provided by the Town. These numbers have shown some improvement since that last survey and still rank very high compared to other Canadian municipalities. 

“Council continues to recognize that it is important to find new ways to engage with the public and find better ways to provide services to our citizens,” said Gary McNamara, Mayor of Tecumseh. “As in previous years these surveys help us identify where we have done well and where we can do better”.

Other highlights from the survey include:

• 94% of residents feel they have an excellent or good quality of life in the Town
• 82% of residents feel the Town is going in the right direction
• Citizen satisfaction with core town services continues to be strong
• Flooding continues to be a top of mind issue
• 92% of citizens rate their sense of safety as excellent or good.
• A new question this year shows that 95% of citizens shop locally
• Residents are mostly satisfied with recreational services but would like to see additional programming

The survey was designed and conducted by Probe Research Inc. who completed telephone interviews between November 20 and December 2, 2019 among a random and representative sampling of 402 adult residents of Tecumseh. Council will receive a report and presentation on the survey at tonight’s Regular Meeting of Council.
