The Town of Tecumseh will celebrate a modified Canada Day this year with several unique activities for residents and families to celebrate Canada’s 154th Birthday. The activities are in keeping with the Province of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen and in lieu of an in-person event.

“We are excited to once again be offering a slate of unique activities that are in line with public health guidelines for Canada Day,” said Gary McNamara, Mayor of Tecumseh. “Our Parks and Recreation Department has put together a great line up for the community and I encourage everyone to not only participate in the events, but also gather safely within provincial guidelines as we continue to move towards full vaccination and a great summer.”

The events are listed on the dedicated webpage and include:

  • Virtual Fireworks: in partnership with Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island, download the snapd app to view the fireworks.
  • Show Your Canadian Pride: submit a photo of your house and/or family decorated/wearing the Maple Leaf for Canada Day and get a chance to win a prize. Photos will not be shared publicly.
  • Colouring Contest: submit an original drawing or choose to colour a downloadable colour page to the Tecumseh Recreation Office that will be displayed at Lakewood Park on July 1 enter the draw for a chance to win some great prizes.
  • Take Home Activities: a select number of take home kits will be offered with registration in advance to be picked up and taken home. Register to pick up your kit at www.TecumsehRec.ca.
  • Pop-Up In-Person Activities: Tecumseh Recreation staff will be stopping in at some local parks on Canada Day to conduct random activities within public health guidelines.
