Registrations for summer programming, including Tecumseh Leisure Pool swimming lessons and summer day camp, scheduled to begin on Monday, May 11, 2020 are postponed until further notice as a result of the ongoing provincial directives.

“I know how much our residents look forward to our summer programs” said Gary McNamara, Mayor of Tecumseh. “But without knowing when and how restrictions will be lifted, we simply have no choice but to wait and see”.

Over 1,500 program registrations are processed by Tecumseh Parks and Recreation every spring for a variety of programs during the months of July and August. The Summer Activity Guide was scheduled to be published in April but circulation was stopped due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

“Tecumseh Recreation staff are continuing to monitor the Provincial Orders and are preparing various scenarios to offer programming once restrictions are lifted.” said Paul Anthony, Director of Parks and Recreation. “ Until then, we encourage residents to use our Virtual Recreation Complex page on our website for links on how to stay active and in motion while at home”.

All Tecumseh park equipment and play structures remain closed, including Baseball Diamonds, Skate Board Park, Dog Park, Disc Golf, Pickleball Courts, Soccer Pitches, and Tennis Courts. Public health officials remind residents to stay home if you are sick; practice physical distancing while walking in park and on trails; avoid touching surfaces; and, wash your hands with soap and water and/or use hand sanitizer frequently. The Virtual Recreation Complex can be accessed via our website at www.tecumseh.ca/virtualrecreation.

As this situation is constantly changing with updated messages from the Canadian and Ontario governments as well as public health agencies, the Town will continue to provide ongoing updates on all further directions. All updates will be posted on our website and users may register for regular updates using the online subscription service.
