Tecumseh Recognizes Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. From September 1 to 7, 2026, the Town will fly the golden ribbon flag and illuminate Town Hall yellow to raise awareness about childhood cancer, show support to families within our community who have faced, or are facing, a childhood cancer diagnosis, support bereaved families, and honour survivors.
In Ontario, around 500 children ages 0 to 17 are diagnosed with cancer each year and there’s over 4,500 families with a child in cancer treatment or follow-up care each year.
Bringing visibility to the experiences of children and their families living with cancer is a critical step in strengthening our understanding of their needs. It’s helping to mobilize communities across the country, improving outcomes, and helping families move forward.
