By-Laws and Enforcement

By-laws are rules and regulations to govern activity and development within the Town of Tecumseh.

The Legislative and Clerk Services Department maintains all Town By-Laws. See below to view frequently requested By-Laws or, to view all By-Laws passed by Council can visit our online Archived By-Laws.

Town Council passes specific by-laws regulating areas such as the licensing, parking, zoning, signs, and noise. By-Law Enforcement ensures these regulations are followed to safeguard public health, protect the environment, and keep the community safe and enjoyable.

By-Law Enforcement responsibilities include:

• Educating the public on By-Law matters.
• Receiving written complaints through the Town's "Report an Issue" portal from residents and businesses.
• Carrying out required inspections when complaints are received.
• Issuing penalties and orders to comply.

Anonymous complaints will not be processed. Your personal information/identity will stay private, but is needed to investigate your complaint. Your personal details will not be shared with council or non-essential municipal staff and kept confidential according to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
