Committee of Adjustment
The Committee of Adjustment is an independent decision-making body appointed by Town Council to consider certain applications under the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.13 (Planning Act).
The Committee considers applications for:
- Minor variances – requests for small changes or exceptions to the requirements of the Town’s Zoning By-law.
- Consents (severances) – applications to divide land to create a new lot, add land to an existing lot, or address other matters requiring consent under the Planning Act.
Under the Planning Act, Town Council may establish and appoint a Committee of Adjustment consisting of at least three members. The Town of Tecumseh’s Committee of Adjustment is usually composed of seven members appointed by Town Council.
The members of the committee shall hold office for the term of the Council that appointed them.
Meeting Details
Meetings of the Committee of Adjustment are held when called, which is generally once a month on the fourth Monday, at 5:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers of Tecumseh Town Hall.
