Town Celebrates New Amenities at Lakewood Park South with a “Party on the Plaza” Event

Tecumseh, ON – The Town of Tecumseh is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate the official opening of its newest amenities at Lakewood Park South with a community event, Party on the Plaza, taking place on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

The event will run from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lakewood Park South (13451 Riverside Dr. E.) and will feature live music, walking entertainment, interactive stations, children’s activities, and a variety of food trucks.  Opening ceremonies will begin at 4:30pm.

The celebration marks the completion of significant upgrades to Lakewood Park South, representing investment by Council to enhance parks and public spaces within the Town. Over $3.8 million has been invested in improvements at the site with support from the Canada Community-Building Fund in the amount of $2 million. Enhancements include new all-season accessible washroom facilities, an all-ages water feature, a natural amphitheatre, a pedestrian bridge, bocce ball courts, a fire pit, and expanded seating areas.

The revitalized plaza also includes a dedicated space designed to accommodate food trucks, vendors, and community gatherings, supporting the Town’s strategic priority to create vibrant, accessible spaces for residents and visitors alike.

Mayor Gary McNamara highlights the importance of the improvements in strengthening community connections and expanding opportunities for programming and events. “Our parks and public spaces are some of Tecumseh’s greatest assets-this is where community is built,” said Mayor McNamara. “Through the investment in Lakewood Park South, we are creating new opportunities for recreation and community events that will enhance quality of life for residents and attract visitors from across the region.”

The Town also acknowledges the many partners and contractors who contributed to the successful completion of the project, as well as the ongoing role of food service operators and programming partners in delivering an enhanced visitor experience at the site.
