Town of Tecumseh Unveils Lacasse Park Pollinator Garden
For Immediate Release
Wednesday, October 28, 2026
Tecumseh, ON–On October 22nd, the Town of Tecumseh, together with representatives from Enbridge Gas, unveiled the Lacasse Park Pollinator Garden.
In early 2025, the Town was awarded funding from Enbridge Gas through the Giving Back to Communities, Community Investment Fund for the Town and region’s support of the southwest Panhandle Regional Expansion Project. From the funding, $20,000 was used to design and construct the pollinator garden. Kari Renaud, owner of Lily Designs in Tecumseh, designed the garden.
The naturalized garden features a variety of native plants, shrubs, trees, wildflowers, and grasses. Together, these plantings create an important habitat and food source for bees, butterflies, birds, and other pollinators. Pollinators play a critical role in the ecosystem by helping plants produce seeds, fruits, and new growth.
“Enbridge Gas is pleased to celebrate the unveiling of the Lacasse Park Pollinator Garden, which was made possible through Community Investment Funding as part of our recently completed Panhandle Regional Expansion Project,” said Megan Shannon, Municipal Advisor, Enbridge Gas. “This garden will help create important habitat for pollinators while providing residents with opportunities to learn about their role in healthy ecosystems. We're proud to support projects like this that enhance community spaces and contribute to the sustainability and vibrancy of the communities we serve.”
“We are grateful to Enbridge Gas for the opportunity to expand the Town’s naturalized areas and increase biodiversity in Lacasse park” said Beth Gignac, Director of Community and Recreation Services. “From design to completion this project has been all about community and ensuring we continue to prioritize environmental health and create spaces for partnerships to flourish.”
The garden will serve as a welcoming year-round refuge for pollinators, as well as an educational asset to be enjoyed for many years to come. A storyboard allows for self-guided education so residents, students, and visitors can learn about the important role pollinators play in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
The Town invites residents and visitors to explore the garden and learn more about the wildlife it is designed to support.
