The Town matches eligible seniors and persons with physical disabilities with volunteer snow shovellers, also known as Snow Angels. The Program is truly "the neighbourly thing to do".
It is a great way for:
- families to volunteer together
- high school students to complete their 40 hours of community service.
To be a volunteer, the following is required:
- Shovel snow within 12 hours after a snowfall;
- Provide your own snow removal equipment, if possible;
- Complete and submit online a Volunteer Snow Angel Program application on an annual basis.
Volunteer Application Form
The Town provides Angels with toques, and shovels, if necessary. In addition, you will be identified to the residents you support. An annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner recognizes Angels who volunteer for the Program.
Police Clearances, including a search of the Vulnerable Sector, are required, and can be obtained online at www.opp.ca and take 4 - 6 weeks to process. Please contact the Community Recreation Services Department at 519-735-4756, ext. 0 or email prior to completing the Police Clearance form.
