Flag Raising: Franco–Ontarian Day

Franco–Ontarian Day – September 25

On Thursday, September 25, the Town of Tecumseh will raise the Franco–Ontarian flag at Town Hall in celebration of Franco–Ontarian Day. The Franco-Ontarian flag, featuring green and white with the trillium and fleur-de-lys, symbolizes both Ontario’s identity and its Francophone heritage.

This day recognizes and celebrates the contributions of Ontario’s Francophone community to the cultural, historical, and social fabric of our province. Established in 2010, Franco–Ontarian Day highlights the rich heritage, vibrant traditions, and enduring presence of French-speaking Ontarians.

In addition to the flag raising, Town Hall will be illuminated in green and white — the colours of the Franco–Ontarian flag — as a tribute to the Francophone community.

The Town of Tecumseh is proud to join communities across the province in honouring our Francophone residents and their role in shaping a diverse and inclusive Ontario.

Sur le jeudi 25 septembre, la Ville de Tecumseh hissera le drapeau franco-ontarien à l’hôtel de ville pour célébrer la Journée des Franco-Ontariens. Le drapeau franco-ontarien, composé du vert et du blanc avec la fleur trille et la fleur de lys, symbolise à la fois l’identité de l’Ontario et son héritage francophone.

Cette journée reconnaît et célèbre la contribution de la communauté francophone de l’Ontario au tissu culturel, historique et social de notre province. Créée en 2010, la Journée des Franco-Ontariens met en valeur le riche patrimoine, les traditions vibrantes et la présence durable des Ontariennes et des Ontariens d’expression française.

En plus de la levée du drapeau, l’hôtel de ville sera illuminé en vert et blanc — les couleurs du drapeau franco-ontarien — en hommage à la communauté francophone.

La Ville de Tecumseh est fière de se joindre aux communautés à travers la province pour rendre hommage à nos résidents francophones et à leur rôle dans la création d’un Ontario diversifié et inclusif.
