Tecumseh, ON – Last evening, Town Council unveiled a new addition to the public art collection on display at Tecumseh Town Hall, a bronze cast statue of Chief Tecumseh.

Renowned wood carver and artist, Fred Zavadil, approached the Town in late 2024 offering his plaster carving of Chief Tecumseh. The Town was honoured to receive such an extraordinary donation and quickly acknowledged the need to cast the fragile clay model into bronze as a permanent sculpture.

MST Bronze Limited of Toronto was sourced by the Town to create a rubber mould from the clay model and complete the complex bronzing process. The finished statue was safely transported back to Town Hall where measures were taken to ensure the artwork is securely displayed in a prominent location.

In attendance for the unveiling were Tecumseh Town Council and artist, Fred Zavadil, along with his colleague and assistant, Jane Baker.

“We are thrilled to be adding a significant legacy piece to the Town’s art collection, thanks to the generosity of the artist, Mr. Fred Zavadil,” said Mayor Gary McNamara.

The statue is viewable in Council Chambers at Tecumseh Town Hall.
