Town of Tecumseh Ratifies New Agreement with Tecumseh Firefighter’s Association

Tecumseh, ON – Town of Tecumseh Council has ratified a new agreement with the Tecumseh Firefighter’s Association. The agreement is for the term of January 1, 2026-December 31, 2029. It provides a wage increase of 13% over the four-year term with enhanced mental health benefits.

“Thank you to the negotiating committees for achieving a fair and sustainable agreement balancing fiscal responsibility with the need to provide exceptional emergency response services for citizens of the Town of Tecumseh” said Margaret Misek-Evans, Chief Administrative Officer.

“Each and every day, members of Tecumseh Fire & Rescue Services demonstrate dedication to serve and protect our community.” said Fire Chief Wade Bondy. “This agreement supports a commitment to ensure that our fire and rescue services strive to meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency for our residents, as well as prioritizing the health and well-being of our Fire Services team.”

“I am pleased with the efforts made by the Town of Tecumseh and the Tecumseh Firefighters Association to negotiate a fair contract that respects both our organizations and, most importantly, the citizens we serve and protect” said Mike Ditty, President of the Tecumseh Firefighter’s Association. “I am confident this agreement will continue to strengthen our commitment to the community and support the high level of service our residents expect and deserve.” 

The Tecumseh Firefighter’s Association represents 42 volunteer firefighters who provide emergency rescue services to approximately 24,000 residents in the Town of Tecumseh across a 95 square kilometer area. Services include firefighting, rescue, emergency medical intervention (including defibrillation), vehicle extrication and shore-based water rescue.
