  • Oldcastle Hamlet Special Planning Study Notice of Public Open House #2

    Following the Public Open House #1 that was held in January of 2024, a second Public Open House has been scheduled for the Special Planning Study (the “Study”) for lands currently designated “Future Development” in Town’s Official Plan, within the Oldcastle Hamlet Settlement Area.   • Tecumseh Council Connect - May 28, 2024

    Essex Power Youth in Community Fund: Council received confirmation that the Essex Power Corporation has once again approved funding to continue to support organizations that offer activities and projects geared towards youth in 2024. The “Youth in Community” Fund programming has continued annually since 2014, and throughout the years has sponsored a variety of recreation programs, events and local sport organizations including Breakfast with Santa, Canada Day Celebration, Christmas in Tecumseh, and Earth Day Celebrations.

  • Town of Tecumseh 2024 Road Needs Study - Update

    The Town is proceeding with the second portion of the 2024 Road Needs Study to obtain a detailed condition assessment of the Town’s existing road network. Information from the Road Needs Study is used to prioritize road improvement projects. Dillon Consulting Ltd. has engaged Ontario Traffic Inc. to complete traffic counts for this study.

  • Tecumseh Council Connect - May 13, 2024

    School Crossing Guard Program Recommendation: To provide broader coverage for safe pedestrian crossovers, Council received a report regarding the current School Crossing Guard Program relative to new pedestrian crossover and traffic control measures.

    The Town of Tecumseh will join communities across the country in recognizing Emergency Preparedness (EP) Week from May 5 to 11, 2024. 

  • Regular Council Meeting Date Change: May 13, 2024

    The Regular Council Meeting on May 14 has been rescheduled for Monday, May 13 at 7pm. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

  • Council Connect - April 23, 2024

    New Development Charges By-Law from Watson & Associates:  Council received a report on the process for updating the Town’s Development Charges By-law as required by Provincial legislation every 5 years. The Development Charges By-law projects growth anticipated in the Town over the next 20 years and determines the cost of infrastructure required to support that growth. 

  • Council Connect - April 9, 2024

    Zoning By-law Amendment 259 Kensington Boulevard: Council held a public meeting to hear public comment for a Zoning By-law amendment application for 259 Kensington Boulevard. The zoning by-law amendment application was submitted for a parcel of land situated on the west side of Kensington Boulevard, approximately 122 metres (400 feet) south of its intersection with Burlington Street.

  • New Essex County OPP Detachment Board

    As of April 1, 2024, the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019, comes into effect, meaning that police service boards under the former Police Services Act will be discontinued in favour of new detachment boards, for municipalities policed by the OPP. Locally, the police service boards of the Town of Essex, Town of Tecumseh, and Municipality of Lakeshore  will be dissolved  as of March 31, 2024 through a by-law and replaced by a single entity, Essex Detachment Board – North, starting April 1.
