The Town of Tecumseh is excited to provide you with an update on the new amenities planned for a portion of Lakewood Park South. The project site is the north-west corner of the park bordered by the parking lot to the east and is inclusive of the former pro shop/restaurant, a new natural amphitheatre and a portion of the adjacent pathways.
The new amenities will feature an all-season washroom, an all-ages and abilities water feature, an event plaza, a covered pavilion, bocce courts and a natural gas firepit. The amphitheatre will be seeded this year for a natural grass seating area.
A temporary pathway will be installed on the south side of the amphitheatre, and directional signage will be erected in the park for users requiring access to paved pathways. On Wednesday, April 2, Bear Construction will take occupancy of the project site at Lakewood Park South. They will begin the preparation phase of the project and will install fencing/hoarding around the project site perimeter. The former pro shop/restaurant building will be used as the project office.
As part of ongoing work at Lakewood Park South, five trees will be removed to accommodate new amenities, with 25 new trees of various species to be planted in their place, enhancing the park's overall tree canopy.
