Disc Golf
The Town maintains a scenic 18-hole disc golf course at Lakewood Park. Disc golf is played much like traditional golf but instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc. The front nine holes are designed to challenge recreational players (red layout), while the back nine cater to intermediate and advanced players (white layout). The object is to complete each hole in the fewest throws. Use of the 18-hole course is FREE.
To access the course, park in the north lot off Riverside Drive, then walk east (left) along the pathway. You will find the course sign on your right, near two practice baskets. Hole #1 is located just beyond the practice area. There are multiple course layouts available — including the Lakewood Original, Blue Longs, and Short Reds. Each hole features signage with the hole number, par, and distance. A course map is available on this page, and all layouts can be viewed on the UDisc app.
Thanks to the Windsor Essex Disc Golf Club, players can borrow a disc and give disc golf a try. The Lending Library box is located next to the message board. Please return borrowed discs after your round so others can enjoy them. There is also a Lost Disc Box for any discs found on the course. If you find a disc with a name and phone number, please text the owner to let them know you have placed it in the box.
To learn more about Disc Golf or to participate in a league, contact the Windsor Essex Disc Golf Association or check them out on Facebook. To learn more about the sport of disc golf, visit the Professional Disc Golf Association's website.
Groups looking to host a Disc Golf Tournament are asked to contact the Tecumseh Community and Recreation Services Department to reserve the park.
