The Town of Tecumseh has launched a Mobile Food Vendor license for Refreshment Vehicles and Frozen Treat Vehicles. Licences remain in effect until December 31st of the current year. 

Applicants wishing to operate a mobile food premise for charitable and/or town special events must contact the Clerks department prior to completing an online application.

Refreshment Vehicle is defined as a means of selling or offering food primarily based from any motor vehicle defined by the Highway Traffic Act. Refreshment Vehicles are proposed to be licensed for a specific location within the Town in which they can operate. Refreshment Vehicles are permitted to operate between the hours of 7:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. daily.

Frozen Treat Vehicles are defined as Refreshment Vehicle which only provides ready-to-eat frozen desserts such as ice cream, which are prepared and sold for public consumption. These vehicles (motorized or non-motorized) are permitted to operate in residential areas of the Town with specific regulations on not visiting the same location within a two-hour period, not stopping at a location longer than ten (10) minutes. Frozen Treat Vehicles are permitted to operate between the hours of 8:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. daily.

  • Refreshment Vehicle Registration 
  • Current Mobile Preparation Premises Inspection Report from the Windsor-Essex Health Unit
  • Commercial Liability Insurance
  • Valid Safety Standards Certificate
  • Food Handler Certification Card
  • Site Plan Drawing/Map
  • Criminal Record Check 
  • Fee payment of $350

Frozen Treat Vehicle Requirements

The following is required for a frozen treat vehicle licence:

  • Current Mobile Preparation Premises Inspection Report from the Windsor-Essex Health Unit
  • Commercial Liability Insurance
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Fee payment of $350
