The Town of Tecumseh recognizes the importance of improving the quality of life for seniors and helping them lead safe, engaged, active, and healthy lives. If you are a senior living in Tecumseh, you can:

 Recreational programming

The Town of Tecumseh's Parks and Recreation Department provides seasonal recreational opportunities for seniors. Play a game of shinny hockey or go for a skate or maybe look at tennis or pickleball, or take an aquafit or swim class in the summer. Visit Register for a Program to search and register for programs as well as renting facilities.

 Snow and Leaf Angels Program
The Town offers a Snow and Leaf Angels Program (Program) for residents. The Program matches volunteers, known as Snow and Leaf Angels, from the community with residents 65 and over or persons with disabilities who live in the Town and require assistance dealing with their leaves or snow removal.

Tecumseh Transit
The Tecumseh Transit bus service (TTS) serves the Town of Tecumseh. Seniors can ride the bus at a reduced rate. View the TTS route/schedule and transit fees.
Senior Services
The Golden Age Club (GAC) is a senior active living club, located in Tecumseh, which provides activities and services for older adults and seniors in Windsor-Essex County. The GAC offers a variety of weekly programs including bridge, euchre, pepper and cribbage, social dinners and events. The Golden Age Club is located at the St. Clair Beach Community Centre (13731 St Gregory's Rd) as of May 1. All programs and activities will continue to run as scheduled.

The GAC programming affords older adults and seniors an opportunity to stimulate cognitive functions as well as promotes social interactions.

Community Support Centre (CSC) is a not-for-profit organization that provides programs and services for residents throughout Essex County. Services include:

  • meals on wheels
  • transportation
  • home support
  • foot care (twice monthly at the Golden Age Club).

Life After Fifty (LAF) is a non-profit organization and a registered charity in Windsor-Essex. LAF is a recreation centre for adults over 50 in the Windsor-Essex community. Seniors are able to participate in a large array of programs, classes, activities, and workshops designed to promote well-being and active living.

Regular weekly programs fall under three core streams:

  1. Health and Wellness (“Be Fit”)
  2. Skills, Development & Hobbies (“Be Well”)
  3. Personal Connections (“Be Social”).

LAF has two active living centres:

  1. West Side Centre is located at 635 McEwan Avenue, and
  2. East Side Centre is located at 8787 McHugh Street in the WFCU Centre.
