Weed Control
Noxious weeds
As a property owner in the Town of Tecumseh, you are responsible to keep your land free of noxious weeds. In accordance with the Weed Control Act and Tecumseh By-law 2004-28, property owners shall destroy noxious weeds on their land.
Noxious weeds are plants designated under the Weed Control Act that:
- are difficult to manage on agricultural land once established and will reduce the yield and quality of the crop being grown;
- Negatively affect the health and well-being of livestock; or
- Pose a risk to the health and well-being of agricultural workers.
You can access a list of noxious weeds on the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs website.
The Town will notify property owners each year to remove and destroy noxious weeds on properties located in Tecumseh.

In accordance with the Weed Control Act and Town of Tecumseh Weed Control By-law, a Public Notice of Weed Control will be advertised and posted to advise when the Town will commence the removal and destruction of weeds and weed seeds on those properties failing to remove all noxious weeds.
The Town of Tecumseh will also advise when pesticides will be used to control noxious weeds along the Town's rural roadsides listed in a Public Notice of Pesticide Use.
