Are you a senior at least 65 years old or older or are a person with physical disabilities and need help when it comes to shovelling your sidewalk or driveway or raking leaves?

The Town of Tecumseh provides a Snow and Leaf Angels Program (Program) to clear snow from municipal sidewalks and driveway entrances. Angels will also rake and collect leaves. The program runs from October 31 to late March 31, annually. Apply to be a volunteer here

The Program is available for Town of Tecumseh residents who are:

  • Senior residents (must be 65 years or older); or
  • Persons with physical disabilities.

To be eligible for the Program, you must provide at least one of the following:

  • Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) Receipt/Stub;
  • Accessible Parking Permit Number;
  • Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) Client Card copy;
  • Disability Travel Card copy;
  • Completed Statement by a Doctor;

Resident Registration Form

If you are a resident and would like to have your snow shovelled or leaves raked, please fill out the application form, on an annual basis, below.  Please note: a separate application form is available for people who wish to volunteer to shovel snow or rake leaves. Applications are now CLOSED.

Volunteers for Snow and Leaf Angels Program

The Town matches eligible seniors and persons with physical disabilities with volunteer snow shovellers and leaf collectors, also known as Snow and Leaf Angels. The Program is truly "the neighbourly thing to do".

It is a great way for:

  • families to volunteer together
  • high school students to complete their 40 hours of community service.

To be a volunteer, the following is required:

  • Shovel snow within 12 hours after a snowfall;
  • Provide your own snow removal equipment, if possible;
  • Complete and submit online a Volunteer Snow and Leaf Angels Program application.

The Town provides Angels with toques, and shovels, if necessary. In addition, you will be identified to the residents you support. An annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner recognizes Angels who volunteer for the Program.

Police Clearances, including a search of the Vulnerable Sector, are required, and can be obtained online at www.opp.ca and take 4 - 6 weeks to process.  Please contact the Community Recreation Services Department at 519-735-4756, ext. 0 or email prior to completing the Police Clearance form.
