The Ontario Renovates Multi-Residential Rental Unit Program is now open for landlords to access funding to repair and/or modify rental units in Windsor and Essex County. Building owners in the Town of Tecumseh must apply through the City of Windsor application process as they are managing the program on behalf of the Ontario government.

Landlords of multi-residential units are invited to apply for this time limited funding opportunity, which is provided by the federal and provincial governments.

Program funding is available in the form of a 15-year forgivable loan.  The amount of money available per rental unit may be up to $50,000, with the average investment estimated at $25,000 per unit.  Landlords making repairs to increase accessibility could receive the first $5,000 supplied in the form of a grant which does not have to be repaid.

According to Jolayne Susko, the City’s Coordinator, Housing Administration and Policy, “This program is an amazing opportunity for landlords to access funding for often times costly repairs and modifications to maintain their rental units, or to improve accessibility features.”
