Tecumseh Residents Share Feedback in Citizen Satisfaction Survey

Tecumseh, ON - The Town of Tecumseh recently completed their biennial Citizen Satisfaction Survey that conveyed high satisfaction rates by local residents. The Town has conducted 5 similar surveys since 2014 to gauge citizen satisfaction with Town provided services and quality of life in the Town of Tecumseh.

The 2023 survey, conducted by Nanos Research Corporation revealed that 97% of Tecumseh residents are either very satisfied (62%) or somewhat satisfied (35%) with the services provided by the Town. This score has shown some improvement since that last survey and still ranks very high compared to other Canadian municipalities. 

“Council values this public engagement process that continues to assist in developing strategic priorities for the Town and finding better ways to provide services to our citizens,” said Gary McNamara, Mayor of Tecumseh. “We are pleased with the results of the survey, we thank our residents for taking the time to participate, and we will endeavour to focus on areas of improvement.”

Mr. Nik Nanos, Chief Data Scientist for Nanos Research presented the results of the survey to Council at their regular Council meeting on March 28.  “This citizen satisfaction survey brings the voice of citizens to the table, tracks how they are feeling, what they think and what they see as priorities” said Mr. Nanos. 

Other highlights from the survey include:
  • 95% of residents feel they have a good or very good quality of life
  • 8 in 10 residents feel the Town is going in the right direction
  • 90% of residents feel the Town is a safe place to live
  • 95% of those that have visited the Town’s website were able to find what they were looking for
  • 94% are satisfied or very satisfied with the services provided by the Town
  • 94% feel they receive average to very good value for their tax dollar
  • Taxation \ rising costs along with road and infrastructure were top of mind issues
  • A new question this year resulted in 9 in 10 residents stating they are likely to recommend the Town of Tecumseh to friends and family as a place to live

Nanos Research completed telephone interviews between February 22nd and March 19th, 2023 among a random and representative sampling of 404 adult residents of Tecumseh across all 5 wards. The margin of error for a random survey of 404 residents of the Town is +/- 4.9 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.  53 residents completed an online version of the survey that will be provided to council in a separate report.
