At the Regular Meeting of Council on August 11, By-law 2020-55 ‘Face Covering Policy for Visitors and Contractors’ was adopted and a policy providing for the wearing of face coverings/masks within Town buildings during a pandemic and-or when recommended by the Medical Officer of Health. The policy comes into effect immediately. The policy follows the Order of the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) Medical Officer of Health that face masks must be worn inside commercial/business establishments throughout Windsor-Essex.

“As we move into Stage 3 of the reopening framework and with the knowledge that community spread of COVID-19 is prevalent, my Council colleagues and I know we must continue to remain vigilant,” said Gary McNamara, Mayor of Tecumseh. “This by-law extends the Health Unit’s mandatory mask policy to all of our Town facilities for visitors and contractors. The same exemptions apply.”

The mask policy does not apply to Town outdoor spaces, however it is recommended that anyone who is not able to physically distance use a face mask as further protection and practice proper hand hygiene. Hand sanitizer stations are available at all public entrances at Town Hall and the Arena. Visitors are also encouraged to make use of online or phone service wherever possible. Screening and enforcement of mask wearing is in place at Town Hall.
