In November 2019 the Town of Tecumseh submitted an application to the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program – Community, Culture and Recreation Stream in a bid to secure Provincial and Federal Government funding for its $54 million SportsPlex project.

Since March 2015 the Town has been actively planning all aspects of the project and continues to be proactive so that, when the successful ICIP projects are announced, we will be ready to kick off our fundraising efforts. The next logical step in the process is to assemble a community fundraising team which will undertake the goal to raise $4 million towards the Town’s commitment.

The Town of Tecumseh is pleased to announce that Mark & Jane Renaud will spearhead fundraising efforts as Co-Chairs of the Capital Campaign Committee for the Town’s planned Community Hub / Multi-Use SportsPlex.

As long-time Tecumseh residents, Jane and Mark have strong roots in the Town of Tecumseh and have expressed their excitement about the construction of a health-focused complex where people will experience and contribute to the further development of Tecumseh’s family-centered values.

“Not only will the construction of a multi-use facility provide additional indoor space for many sporting and community activities, it will transform the Town into a destination for regional sports and recreational events, promote local businesses, increase tourism, and create jobs,” notes Mark. He adds, “Jane and I have lived in Tecumseh for over 30 years and the Tecumseh Arena has been an integral part of our life, much the same as it has been for so many. We are proud to lend our support to help make the SportsPlex a reality.”

Adds Jane, “Mark and I are very passionate about our community and extremely excited about being part of this thrilling new project. Tecumseh has beautiful recreational facilities and parks and has been a great place to live and raise our family. The SportsPlex will be one more tremendous facility that people from Tecumseh and surrounding areas will enjoy for generations to come. We are thrilled to co-chair fundraising efforts for the SportsPlex and look forward to putting together a team of other passionate volunteers to assist with the efforts.”

“We are anticipating that applicants to the ICIP grant program will be notified of their project’s status within the next few weeks and we want to ensure we are ready to move forward with our fundraising efforts upon successful notification,” notes Mayor Gary McNamara. “Having a well-respected couple who shares a strong passion for continued growth in the Town makes Mark and Jane the ideal choice as Co-Chairs for the Capital Campaign. We are pleased they will be leading fundraising efforts for the new multi-use facility on our behalf.”
