The Town of Tecumseh is encouraging property owners—residents and businesses—to get in the holiday spirit this year with the first ever Holiday Lights activity. Those who decorate their property with a light display can submit their address to a secure form and these streets will be put onto a map of areas with light displays. In turn, anyone can download the map showing streets where Holiday Lights displays are to take a stroll, bike ride or drive through to see the displays.

“With the cancellation of our Christmas in Tecumseh and Santa Clause parade, we still wanted to help our residents and business owners get in the spirit locally,” said Gary McNamara, Mayor of Tecumseh. “I think everyone spent some time as a child marvelling at lights on buildings during the holidays. We want as many people as possible to participate and create areas of Town that will make for great touring. It’s a great way to celebrate while following public health guidelines.”

The Town has created a webpage (discontinued) with information on the activity and a form for anyone wishing to share their location with the Town. Contact information will be required for those interested in entering a draw for a number of prize packages valued at approximately $100.

A downloadable map will be provided with streets colour coded for number of displays. Everyone is encouraged to use the street map to take a trip through Town to view the lights. No address information will be shared publicly—only streets will be shown with areas to view. The map will go live the week of November 30.
