As a result of the ongoing provincial order on events and gatherings of more than five people, Parks and Recreation has cancelled the following upcoming events:

Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach’s Easter Egg Hunt on April 4, 2020

Town of Tecumseh’s Earth Day Celebration on April 22, 2020

“We continue to make difficult decisions about community events and activities and reducing exposure to COVID-19,” said Gary McNamara, Mayor of Tecumseh. “I know the community looks forward to our spring activities  however, I am hopeful everyone understands and can support these decisions. I continue to ask that residents stay home, avoid unnecessary trips, spend time in your backyards or go for walks while keeping physical distance of at least 2 m, and remember to wash your hands. Every individual action counts.”

Tecumseh Parks and Recreation Services staff continues to work with local groups and organizations on other upcoming events and activities. Community sport organizations that utilize Tecumseh Parks and Recreation facilities including ice hockey, skating, soccer, baseball, fitness & karate have been informed of facility and field closures and are responsible for communicating with their registered participants on the status of their programs. If you have questions regarding programs run by outside organizations, please contact the organization directly, or go to their websites for more up-to-date information. Recreation facilities and outdoor playgrounds and equipment have been closed until further notice. This includes the skate park, tennis and pickleball courts, disk golf course, and the leash-free dog park.

“The Town will continue to work with all of its user groups to facilitate the required cancellations and will work with event organizers to reschedule events wherever possible once restrictions are lifted” said Paul Anthony, Director of Parks and Recreation.

As this situation is constantly changing with updated messages from the Canadian and Ontario governments as well as public health agencies, the Town will continue to provide ongoing updates on further decisions. All updates will be posted to our website and users may register for regular updates using the online subscription service.
