Tecumseh Votes 2026

The 2026 Town of Tecumseh Municipal and School Board Election will be held on October 26, 2026, as required by the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.

Eligible voters will be able to vote online or by phone starting September 28 at 10:00AM until October 26, 2026 at 8:00PM. Voters may confirm, update or add their information to the voters' list online at RegistertoVoteON.ca.

Individuals wanting to run in this election may file nomination papers starting Friday, May 1, 2026. Nominations will be open for the following offices:

  • Mayor
  • Deputy Mayor
  • Councillor - Ward 1
  • Councillor - Ward 2
  • Councillor - Ward 3
  • Councillor - Ward 4
  • Councillor - Ward 5

  • Trustee - English Public, Greater Essex County District School Board
  • Trustee - English Separate, Windsor Essex Catholic School Board
  • Trustee - French Public, Conseil scolaire Viamonde
  • Trustee - French Separate, Conseil scolaire catholique Providence Area/secteur 9 (Tecumseh Wards 1, 2, and 3 & Lakeshore Wards 1 and 2)

Are you on the Voter's List?

As a voter, you should review, confirm, update, or add your information to the Voters' List,  especially if you:

  • have changed your name or address
  • own or rent a new property
  • no longer own or rent a property
  • want to remove your information
  • want to remove a deceased person
  • add yourself to the list of Future Voters (if you’re under 18 years of age).

Key Election Dates

April 8, 2026 - Information Session for Prospective Candidates

Residents of Windsor, Essex County and Pelee Island who are considering running in the October municipal election are invited to attend a free, information session to learn more about the process.

The Information session is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 starting at 6:00PM. For further details and to pre-register for the event, please visit the County of Essex's event registration page.

Nomination Period Begins

Candidates may begin filing their nomination forms and may continue to file on any business day thereafter up until August 21, 2026. The deadline is file nomination papers is August 21, 2026 by 2:00PM.

Third-Party Advertiser Registration Period Begins

Individuals, corporations, or trade unions may file the prescribed form with the Town Clerk to be registered as a third-party advertiser. Restrictions apply.

This is the last day to file a nomination or to withdraw your nomination. On this date, nomination forms and withdrawals may only be submitted until 2:00PM.

To withdraw, candidates are to file written notice to the Town Clerk. 

The only methods for voting in Tecumseh will be internet and telephone voting.

If you are on the Voters' List, you will receive a Voter Information Letter prior to this date which will provide you with the Personal Identification Number (PIN) you will need, as well as detailed instructions on how to cast your vote.

Voting ends at 8:00PM.

Elected candidates will take the oath of office before assuming their seat. The Inaugural Meeting of the new Council is scheduled for November 17, 2026, at 6:00PM at the Ciociaro Club, located at 3745 N Talbot Road, in Tecumseh.  This meeting will be livestreamed for the public on the Town website.
