Notice of Study Completion

On September 29th, 2016, the Town of Tecumseh experienced significant surface flooding due to an extreme rainfall event that overwhelmed the existing storm sewer system and pumping stations. In order to identify comprehensive, long-range solutions that would reduce the risks and impacts of surface flooding in the more vulnerable urban areas, the Town of Tecumseh completed a Storm Drainage Master Plan in accordance with Approach 2 of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) (Municipal Engineers Association, 2015), which satisfies the requirements for the following Schedule B projects:

Storm Pump Station Improvements

  • Replace the existing Lesperance Pump Station (Riverside Dr. at Lesperance Rd.) with an upgraded facility;
  • Expand the existing West St. Louis Pump Station (Riverside Dr. between Barry Ave. and Centennial Dr.);
  • Decommission the St. Mark's Pump Station (Riverside Dr. between Edgewater Blvd. and St. Marks Rd.) and replace the existing Scully Pump Station (Riverside Dr. between Grant Ave. and Edgewater Blvd.) with an upgraded facility for the consolidated Scully/St. Mark's service area;
  • Replace the existing PJ Cecile Pump Station (Riverside Dr. at Kensington Blvd.) with an upgraded facility; and
  • New storm pump station along Southwind Crescent.

Underground/Aboveground Storage

  • Construct a surface storage facility within the "Tecumseh Soccer Fields" adjacent to Ecole Secondaire L'Essor;
  • Construct a surface storage facility within Buster Reaume Park; and
  • Construct an underground/surface storage facility within Tecumseh Centre Park.
