2015 Special Events and Festivals

In 2014, the Town of Tecumseh was recognized as the “Best Festival City” for a Town under the population of 200,000 by Festivals & Events Ontario.  The fun continues for 2015.  Be sure to join in on all the events happening in our own back yard. 

TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games Torch Relay
The Torch Relay is coming to the Town of Tecumseh on Tuesday, June 16th.  Join Tecumseh Town Council for an evening celebration to commemorate this exciting event.  Activities include a community BBQ, Interactive Games & Activities, and sport demonstrations.

Summer Concerts In The Park
Come out and enjoy an exciting lineup of musical entertainment, artistic presentations and family entertainment.  Bring along a blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy an afternoon in the beautiful setting of the WFCU Square at Lakewood Park.

Free Family Movie Night - Disney BIG HERO 6

Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy a movie under the stars with complimentary popcorn.   
The special bond that develops between a plus sized inflatable robot Baymax, and prodigy Hero Hamada, who team up with a group of friends to form a band of high-tech hereos.



Victoria Day Weekend Fireworks
Sunday, May 17 at Green Acres Optimist Park

Parking Lot Battle
Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30 at Tecumseh Arena
Exciting 3 on 3 road hockey tournament in support of Sparkles From Above ‘Search For A Cure’ charity.  Register a team or come out and watch the games.  For more information, visit


Fishing Derby
Saturday, June 13 at Lakewood Park
Children ages 4-14 are invited to compete in the annual derby.  Free registration!  All you need to bring is your fishing rod; bait and refreshments will be supplied by the Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach.  Prizes for Largest Fish, Most Fish Caught, and Smallest Fish.  Donations of canned goods to support local food banks is much appreciated.  Details may be found at

A Taste of Tecumseh Food & Wine Festival
Friday, June 19 and Saturday June 20 at Lakewood Park
Hosted by the Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach, enjoy two evenings of local wines of various aromas and flavours along with delicious foods and live entertainment.  Details may be found at


Go Skateboarding Day
Sunday, June 21 at Tecumseh Skate Park
Grab your boards and helmets and head over to the Skate Park.  Complimentary snacks and door prizes will be provided thanks to the Tecumseh Community Policing Committee. 


International Dragon Boat Festival
Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19 at Lakewood Park
Whether you are on a Dragon Boat team or a supporter from the shoreline, this festival promises to be fun for everyone.  Funds raised help support breast cancer treatments here in Essex County.  Call 519-739-9588 or visit for more information.


Hospice Triathlon
Saturday, August 8 at Lacasse Park & Sunday, August 9 at Lakewood Park
On Saturday, children ages 7 – 15 compete in the Kids for Hospice Triathlon within Lacasse Park and the Tecumseh Leisure Pool.  On Sunday, the adults compete in a triathlon starting with the swim portion off Lakewood Park North, through the Town of Tecumseh and finishing at Lakewood Park South.  More information is available at


40th Annual Tecumseh Corn Festival
August 27 – 30 at Lacasse Park
Join Nibby the Corncob for fantastic family entertainment, contests and activities including a vendor village, mid-way carnival, festival tent, the Miss Tecumseh Pageant, the “Largest Small Town Parade” and of course delicious hot-buttered corn on the cob.  Visit for more information.


2nd Annual Skateboarding Competition
Saturday, September 5 at Tecumseh Skate Park
Great prizes to be won.  Registration starts at 10:00 a.m. Competition starts at 11:00 a.m.  Competition age categories: 13 & under, 14-18, 19+. 
Event categories: Line and Best Trick.     Helmets are required to compete.

2nd Annual Disc Golf Tournament
Saturday, September 19 at Lakewood Park
A beginner friendly disc golf tournament includes one round of 18 holes followed by open play on the course after lunch.  $20 registration fee.  For more information, visit



Tecumseh Terry Fox Run
September 20 at Green Acres Optimist Park
Inspired by a dream, grounded in tradition, volunteer-driven.  Participate in the annual Terry Fox Run for cancer research.  Participate as an individual, as a family, or as a team.  Run, walk, bike, or rollerblade along the 2km / 5km / 10km route (wheelchair accessible).  Lots of family fun entertainment to follow.  For more information, visit
